Preseason

Preseason is here for HS players inthe North. Here are five things to focus your preseason pitching workouts.

pitch location

LOCATION work is key in preseason. Sharpen your focus and measure and track your pitches to location for each of your game ready pitches. By the end of preseason you should have NUMBER on x/10 to location for each pitch

SEQUENCING is the a second step and plays off your location work. Sequencing is building confidence and reps in moving the ball up/down/ left/right/slow/fast across the zone. Work with your catcher ( and pitch caller) to define 2-4 sequences that are solid and you can throw with confidence.

FITNESS: You should have been in the weight room all fall. Maintain a regimen of 2 x per wek workouts. Your fall work should have been sets like 3x10 with heavy weights to build strength. Now its time for power. Box jumps, explosive cleans, lateral and forward med ball work, short distance sprints. Its time to explode. Continue with once a week long toss to maintain a strong cardio base for the 7th inning.
STAY HEALTHY :Core work, flexibility and shoulder health. You must build and protect in preseason to endure the grind once season hits. Core and Shoulder health should be a daily part of your practice routine
